About the Label

Los Angeles, CA - Summer 2011:
Six2Midnite Recordings came out of the need for a way to neatly organize multiple music projects. It had been many years, about 15 in fact since I had picked up a guitar or really had the desire to. After moving from Houston, TX to Los Angeles, CA in July of 2000, I quickly got caught up in the video production business and sort of forgot about my roots in playing music and how fun it was. Other than occasionally making electronic music for movies, no more thought was given to songwriting.
Fast forward 10 years and a couple friends, J. Schneider and Brent Himes of the band Taste of Garlic, say they are producing a documentary about the 90's music scene in Houston. Well, that means we've gotta dust ourselves off and try to start rehearsing to participate in a future showcase to promote the documentary. Word gets out that Monster Soup is rehearsing again, which is quite hard considering our band members are all over the country now, and we get an invite from old friends Butch Klotz and 30 Foot Fall. They want us to come to Houston and play X-mas night 2010 with them at Fitzgerald's.
The rest sorts itself out very quickly. A couple live shows and the creative flood gates open wide. Suddenly, I'm writing tons of new material that not only suits Monster Soup, but also works for other types of ventures. I had to find a way to organize it all. Music, band, album, label - it had to be cohesive for marketing purposes. So here we are, about 20 new songs in with no end in sight. Just good times, good music and having fun doing it.
Six2Midnite Recordings is currently working in the genres of rock, punk, ambient, electronic, garage and soundscapes. We're getting back to the original concept of DIY. Anything can happen.

See ya!
